GCCA archery will begin Wednesday January 3rd. 

The team will be led by Head Coach Rebecca Leise, and her assistant coaches,  Sheena Yonker and Dan Edmonds.   Rebecca is in her 2nd year as the head coach and Dan and Sheena are entering their first year. 

Practices will be from 5--7:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  There will be 2 different sessions each night 5-6:15 and then 6:15-7:30.  Each student will have to attend 2 sessions a week.  All archery practices will take place at Madison Ave gym. 

Archery at GCCA consists of 3 different teams.  These teams are based off of grades.  Our teams do not practice separately, but the practices can have kids from 4th grade up to 12th grade in them.   From the interest form, we had 20 Elementary kids, 16 Middle school, and then 11 High School kids.  Each team will need 12 students and at least 4 of each gender to qualify for a team.  

Elementary 4th-5th graders

Middle School 6th-8th graders

High School 9th-12th graders 

If your child is interested in playing basketball or participating in the Drama program, they are able to do this along with archery, but they are unable to do all 3.

The team will have a maximum participation of 50 kids, with the goal of this that we have enough students to make up full teams in each of the 3 groups:  Elementary, Middle School, and High School.   We are not able to accommodate anymore students during our practice time in a safe manner.  Priority will go to GCCA full time students, then Homeschool students who take an academic class at GCCA, and lastly will be Homeschool students who take the PE class, the number of years participating on the team will go into this equation.  

  Last year not everyone attended the State Tournament, and our team was not able to compete as a team,  only as Individuals.  We do not want this to happen again.  If you are unable to attend the State Tournament, I ask that you talk to the Athletic Director before you sign up your child.   Unfortunately, the Archery State Tournament also falls on the Opening Night of the Drama Production.  If your child lands a roll in the Drama production, please talk with me before signing up for the Archery Team.  

Currently there are 3 tournaments we know about, and we hope there is another tournament in early March we can also attend, it is just not posted at this time.  

   Saturday 1/6--Portersville---this can be attended by individuals, you must talk to Coach Leise about 

   Saturday 2/3--Central Valley ( 1 hour away)

   Saturday 2/17--Portersville   (25 mins away) 

   Early March--hopefully one more tournament

   Friday 3/22--State Tournament--Manheim, Pa  (4 hours away)

       (This is also the same day as the opening night of the DRAMA PRODUCTION)

Homeschool students who DO NOT take an academic class at GCCA, will be required to attend 1 of 2 Archery Gym Classes.  If they are not able to attend either class, they are NOT able to be on the GCCA archery team, as this is a requirement from the NASP.  There will not be any additional cost to take this Archery Class.

 Taking this class does NOT guarantee that you will be the team, but it is required to take one of these classes to be on the team.  Each class can accommodate 12 kids.

Please turn these into the office as soon as possibe, if your child has competed in another GCCA sport during the 2023-2024 school year this paperwork is already on file and we do NOT need a new copy. 

COST
-Cost for GCCA full time students will be $60
-Cost for Homeschool students will be $90

Each GCCA sport has a cost associated with it to help offset the cost of the sport, so this is required for everyone even if they have already paid for another sport. 

If you have more than one child, you will have to fill this out again for each of them.
