Thank you for your interest in coaching with the Lincoln Ice Hockey Association! Completing this application is the first step to becoming a volunteer coach with LIHA.

Please keep the following in mind:

-     All applicants will be interviewed and/or evaluated on skating skills and coaching knowledge/experience.

-     LIHA's Hockey Director and Coaching Director will be evaluating coaching staffs and practice plans throughout the season.

-     To ensure consistency and positive player development at all age levels throughout the season, coaches will be expected to implement suggestions/changes to practice plans as prescribed by either the Hockey Director or the Coaching Director. LIHA supports and implements the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM).

-     All coaches will be required to understand and adhere to all LIHA, SafeSport, and USA Hockey policies, procedures, and codes of conduct during sanctioned practices and games. This includes acquiring and maintaining applicable certifications and background checks as required by USA Hockey and SafeSport.

-     Coaches are expected to maintain positive, open lines of communication with the Hockey Director and Coaching Director as to address concerns or problems, and immediately report any player injuries or USA Hockey or SafeSport issues/violations.

-     The coaching application must be completed each season, and submitting the application does not guarantee a coaching placement. All applications are reviewed by the Hockey Director, the Coaching Director, and the LIHA Board of Directors.

-     Travel coach applications will be accepted through May 15, 2022. Travel coaches will be selected and notified by June 1, 2022 (prior to tryouts).

-     House coach applications will be accepted through the summer. House coaches will be selected and notified after Travel tryouts conclude (late July/early August).

Additional steps required before getting on the ice:

-     Register with USA Hockey as a Coach/Player.
-     Complete SafeSport training.
-     Complete age-specific training module(s).
-     Complete background check consent form.
-     Attend coaching clinic (must be completed by December 31, 2022).
