Erasmus+: Youth, Key Action 1: Training Course
Venue: Issor, France
Training Course dates: 7—13 July 2022
Gender identity and sexual orientation play an important role in the lives of young people and in society in general. In (international) youth work, there are very few possibilities to reflect on these topics: How can youth work be gender-sensitive? How can we create safer spaces for everyone, no matter their gender identity and sexual orientation, in our projects? How can we talk about problems and possible solutions concerning gender and sexual orientation?
The setup of this training is based on the approach of Utopic Thinking. What would a world in which everyone is equal, no matter their gender, look like? How would youth projects look like in this world? We will use utopic thinking to reflect on these questions and share ideas and best practices how to make these utopias real. We will (re)imagine projects that are completely void of discrimination, harassment and exclusion based on gender and sexuality. We believe that such a perspective can enable us to come up with radically new ideas and foster an understanding of what it actually is that we want or don’t want, leading to better and more equal projects. We will learn and exchange how to make all young people feel welcome, included and free to express themselves.
WHEN and WHERE
The training will take place in 7th-13th of July 2022 for 7 days (5 working days and 2 travel days) and will be in a youth centre in Issor, France.
CARE WORK
We see care work as a very important social task and want to talk about the importance of making it visible in youth projects and training as well. Therefore the group will take care of their own care work (cooking, cleaning, etc) themselves, it will be included in the schedule.
