Science FUNdamentals Volunteer Application 2020-21
Thank you for your interest in joining Science FUNdamentals!

Here's a quick summary about our organization: Our mission is to promote a passion for science through presenting interactive demonstrations to elementary students. We strive to engage students of all interests with activities that span from microbiology to genetics to psychology and even forensics. Once a month, you and your partner will present a super exciting science demonstration to your assigned elementary class.

If you would like to share your love for science and are interested in volunteering with Science FUNdamentals, please fill out the following application form by Monday, September 7th @ 11:59 PM (MST).

Following the application form, we will be inviting applicants to attend a Group Interview. The interviews are lots of fun and casual! I will be sending you a Google Form soon where you can indicate your preferred interview time and date so please check your email. After the interviews, there will be required to attend ~1 hour training session. I will be emailing successful applicants a Google Form to sign up for a training session closer to that date.

Although Fall 2020 volunteer activities will occur virtually, we may transition to in-person activities in the Winter. For example: NW, NE, SE, SW, St Albert, Millwoods, Terwillegar, Sherwood Park, etc

Although Fall 2020 volunteer activities will occur virtually, we may transition to in-person activities in the Winter. Please note: If you and your partner do not have a car, we will try our best to place you at a school along the LRT line but it is still very possible it may require an LRT and a bus ride to get to the school.
Would you be interested in an afterschool program? *
These students may be more challenging to teach. We are looking for volunteers with high levels of enthusiasm and a strong love for science! :)
Would you be interested in a kindergarten program? *
Currently we only have 1 demo that is suitable for Kindergarten/Grade 1 classes. Our Kindergarten Program would require you to perform this demo to different kindergarten classes around the city (would be preferable if you had access to a car since some of the schools are not easily accessible by public transportation).
Would you be interested in presenting a coding demo? *
Are you comfortable presenting in French? *
If you are comfortable presenting in French, we would love to have you give demonstrations at our French immersion schools!

Please indicate your availability as best as you can here. We will try to match you with a partner and teacher with a similar schedule. You may be adjusting your schedules in these first few weeks of classes. Just send me an email ASAP if your availability changes.
