Gongming Collective Community Interpreting Training
INTRO TO LANGUAGE JUSTICE AND COMMUNITY INTERPRETING                                                                        
Gongming Collective is offering a 2-day community interpreting training for fluent speakers of Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Bengali (Among other Asian languages), in English. There is no cost to participate. Training will be facilitated in English. ***Please read the information below thoroughly before you apply***

TRAINING TOPICS
* Skill Building in the Three Modes of Interpreting: Consecutive, Simultaneous, & Sight Translation
* Interpreter Role and Ethics
* Language Justice Principles and Practices
*Toolkit for Ongoing Skill Building

DATES & TIMES:
Please apply only if you are able to commit to attending all two training sessions:
Saturday May 13: 10am-5pm
Sunday May 14:10am-5pm

LOCATION: Minkwon Center (133-29 41st Avenue, Suite 202, Flushing, NY 11355)

Training is free. A sliding scale of $15-$20 is optional - This will go towards helping to cover for food and other costs for the 2 day training. The maximum capacity for this workshop is 25 interpreters.
