Join us on Saturday, May 20th for a workday at Lake Solano Park!
NOTE: This workday is a little more intense than our normal stewardship days. Ages 16 and up only. We will be installing galvanized metal wire caging and driving metal T posts into the ground to support the cages. Volunteers must wear long sleeves to protect from scratches, long pants, sturdy closed toed shoes, gloves, and eye protection. Eye protection and gloves will be provided.
Task: Installing caging on 70 redbud and toyon plants that are being heavily grazed by deer, preventing their growth into full sized shrubs. Possibly weeding the plantings if we have extra time.
Meeting location:
8685 Pleasants Valley Rd, Winters, CA 95694. Park on the day use side of the park but do not pay for parking; volunteers will receive a parking pass from event staff to display on their dashboard. Meet PCC staff across Pleasants Valley Road in front of the Nature Center.
Time: 9am-noon
Please wear weather appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle.
Please do not attend any PCC volunteer event if you have had a COVID-19 exposure or are experiencing any COVID or cold/flu symptoms. For any questions about this event please contact Rachel Snodgrass (rachel@putahcreekcouncil.org).
