The Commonwealth Awards celebrates visionary community leadership and catalytic development projects and initiatives that find new uses for vacant and underutilized land, increase opportunities for communities on the rise, and breathe new life into old neighborhoods. It is the only statewide Smart Growth awards program in Pennsylvania and reflects 10,000 Friends’ commitment to improving the quality of life for all Pennsylvanians. Through the Commonwealth Awards, we recognize development projects that utilize best practices creating great walkable, sustainable, equitable, and healthy communities.

We are seeking suggestions from influential partners like you, to tell us about people and projects in your community or region that demonstrate excellence in smart growth, sustainability, and resilience. The Selection team may reach out to you for additional information. The Selection team and staff will contact prospective nominees to learn more about their project and/or efforts and ask them to submit a full application for consideration of the 2019 Commonwealth Awards.
