Expectations
DCSS expects graduation to be a dignified ceremony. Students who wish to participate in the ceremony will be expected to follow the instructions given in the practice sessions and to behave in a manner appropriate for the occasion (as determined by school personnel).
- Inappropriate behaviors/items include (but are not limited to):
- Yelling or whistling
- Disrespectful conduct and/or language toward adults or students
- Distracting activities, i.e., blowing bubbles, tossing paper airplanes, bouncing beach balls, talking on cell phones, etc.
- Inappropriate clothing, shoes, etc., worn under robes or caps
- Unapproved additions to the graduation attire, i.e., pins, cords, stoles
- Inappropriate dances, moves, or gestures while on stage
- Use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs
Students who do not follow expectations will be asked to leave or will be escorted from the area; their diplomas and official transcripts will be pulled and not issued until July 31, 2022.
