PARACHUTISTS OVER PHORTY SOCIETY (POPS) (UK)
Dear potential UK POPS Member,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding UK Parachutists Over Phorty (POPS), Skydivers Over Sixty (SOS) and Jumpers Over Seventy (JOS) UK Membership, POPS was formed in 1978 to promote parachuting and good fellowship for the mature members in our sport.

Membership is open to anyone who has made a parachute descent (military or civilian) and is forty or more years old. At present the lifetime membership fee for POPS is £20, which includes a woven jump suit badge, sticker and POPS members card. UK SOS is a lifetime membership fee of £5 and UK JOS life membership is free.

Currently the UK does not issue out numbers for Jumpers Over Eighty (JOES) or Jumpers Over Ninety (JONS) Society Members. Please register with the USA JOES or JONS via the USA Application Form to receive a number. UK members can then inform the UK POPS/SOS/JOS team by completing this form.

We have meets at different UK DZ's by invitation, which often gives members the chance to jump at a new DZ without the feeling of being a stranger. A European meet the other side of the water is organised each year also by popular request. Then there is the World Championship and Meet biannually. Families and friends are welcome, as are non-jumping members. Family responsibilities occasionally prevent members from attending as often as they would like, but I would point out that membership of POPS has helped keep many of us skydiving. Our meets are great social events too.
