Do you want to feed Sheffield?
Regather are making the case for a citywide expansion in market gardening and small scale agriculture in and around Sheffield.  This includes exploring a variety of approaches that are appropriate to both urban and urban fringe sites.  

Elsewhere in the UK, Farmstarts https://landworkersalliance.org.uk/farm-start-network/ have been set up to help new entrants into careers in horticulture and agriculture.  Regather is researching how a Farmstart could work in Sheffield. Your responses to this survey are one part of this larger study.

The survey is designed for anyone / any group who is thinking about setting up a food production business following sustainable principles. By answering this survey you are, however, not committing yourself to anything.  Please note that Regather are not able to offer land or facilities at this time, but with your support we hope to change this.

You can respond as an individual, on behalf of a social enterprise or a community group.  If you are not currently living in or around Sheffield, but would consider basing yourself here in order to develop a food business, then we would still like to hear from you.  

We understand that access to land and related facilities are the biggest barriers to growing food but there are other factors that may be preventing you from getting started.  This is an opportunity to tell us about what you need.

Regather want to know:

• what demand there is locally for land that is suitable for food production
• what type of land and / or property you are looking for and at what scale
• what skills and experience you already have and what you might need
• what business ideas you have considered
• whether you are interested in developing community growing projects
• whether you are interested in land partnerships with others on leased land
• whether you would consider signing up for a Farmstart or 'incubator farm' scheme
Use of survey

This survey will remain online for new submissions, although the intention is to publish the initial results as part of the Farmstart study during 2022.  Regather will ensure that your personal information is held in accordance with GDPR principles and all published data will be anonymised.  

Regather work with many organisations who share the common goal of creating a more resilient food supply network across Sheffield.  Although we will share the anonymised survey results with our partners, we will never share your personal information and the only emails you will receive will be from Regather.
