Volunteer Opportunities
CLASS PARTIES- Set up, working a shift, and/or clean up
CREATING BULLETIN BOARDS - for your child's grade level. Bulletin boards change approximately every 6 weeks. You do not need to commit to every board change.
GRADE PARENT - As a grade parent, you will be available to help with grade level volunteer opportunities. These opportunities include: teacher requests, grade level requests, and assist with school wide events/programs. Grade parents will be advised by a grade level liaison. This is similar to what a Room Parent has been, however, you will help teachers in the whole grade not just one teacher.
GRADE LIAISON - As grade liaison, you will find parent volunteer(s) (from the grade parents) to be available for each volunteer opportunity. You are the lead parent for your grade.
HOLIDAY STORE - Set up, assisting students shop, and/or clean up.
MVP MORNINGS (Donuts with Dads/Mornings with Moms) - Set up, serve, and/or clean up.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT - Teaching a grade appropriate economics/entrepreneurial/finance based lesson in the classroom - all materials are provided and the lesson is scripted! A brief orientation with the JA coordinator will tell you everything you need to know. K - 5th grade lessons are all taught one day, (1 full school day with breaks).
LIBRARY VOLUNTEER - Checking books in, shelving, stock maintenance, and/or checking books out.
LUNCHROOM VOLUNTEER - Monitoring lunchroom, assisting students in opening containers/packages/drinks during kinder and first grade lunch periods - only 1 hour
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - Encourage new families to join the PTA; share your experiences as a PTA member; explain the benefits of joining the Exley PTA; help with selling PTA memberships, t-shirts, and snacks during PTA sponsored events.
PICTURE DAY - Assist photographers with students.
SCIENCE LAB VOLUNTEER - Assisting the science lab coordinator and students with FUN experiments!
SCHOOL PROGRAMS - Setting up, assisting students, and/or clean up.
STAFF LUNCHEONS - Setting up, serving staff, and/or clean up. A sign up will be sent out for each luncheon.
SPIRIT WEAR - Sales, distributions, and designs.
SPRING CARNIVAL - Assist in planning, working a shift, and/or cleanup.
WORKROOM - Making copies, laminating, cutting, etc. Hours are at your convenience. *Not available to volunteer on campus but still want to help? We can send home things like sorting items, cutting, etc for you to help our staff! (Please note - no children are permitted in the workroom, this is an Exley rule. Workroom is one volunteer opportunity where younger siblings are not permitted to come with you)
LITERACY LIBRARY - The Literacy Library contains more than 30,000 resources for teachers to use. Sets of leveled books are available for teachers to check out so they can work with children in small groups on their reading level. We need volunteers throughout the year for sorting, shelving, organizing, teacher check in and check out, and end of the year inventory. Ideally, Ms Frederick would like to have someone come by 1 to 2 times per week during the school year on any day that you choose. The Literacy Library is located in room 707 right across from the 3rd grade pod. *Disclaimer - Children do not check out books from the Literacy Library, so there is not a “class check out time” sign up. ***This is a year long commitment to volunteer 1 - 2 days a week in the Literacy Library***
