Stay Gold: online
MOCA is offering a new 10 week program to the LGBTQ Community online with a focus on contemporary artists who identify as LGBTQIA+. MOCA has chosen 10 LGBTQIA+ identified contemporary artists highlighted by Art21. Art21 is a nonprofit organization that produces documentary content on contemporary art and artists, including the Peabody Award-winning PBS-broadcast television series Art in the Twenty-First Century and the digital film series New York Close Up, which highlights early-career artists living and working in New York City. We will provide the group with a link to video content where you can watch the artists discuss and make work. All videos are free to stream.

Participants will be strongly encouraged (although not required) to create work at home inspired by the artists we explore each week in the medium of their choice. This group is for all levels of learners and no prior art experience or is required. On Tuesday evenings, beginning April 21st, we will connect online at 6pm (potentially longer depending on interest) for one hour to discuss each artist and share any artwork we created with the group via Zoom. We will also provide a link where participants can upload images of what they are working on where other members of the group can view and comment. I will offer guiding questions to generate discussion during our Zoom meeting. Please join us!

Eli Burke will be facilitating this online group. Please email Eli with any questions: eli@moca-tucson.org

This program is aimed at maintaining connections within our community. Please feel free to drop-in to our group when you are able ( you must first fill out this form). If you miss a week please email me and I will share a link to featured artist of the week.
