The awarded scholarship will cover $325.00 of the Hawai‘i 2023 LCI seminar registration fee (normally $500), held at Kapilina Beach Homes on June 9-11. 2023. Candidates are responsible for paying the $175 remainder of the seminar registration fee. Awardees cannot exchange for cash or transfer scholarship.

The League expects that experienced bicyclists are seeking certification. This class is meant primarily to focus on how best to teach bicycling education - this curriculum is not about learning how to ride safely, it's about teaching. Attendance at all seminar hours is mandatory and does not guarantee certification.

Successful candidates will have a strong working knowledge of bicycles and bike maintenance and a great deal of experience riding in high traffic scenarios. Successful candidates also have strong core values aligned with philosophies of the League, including helmet use, bicycling infrastructure, and full incorporation of the idea that all people who ride bicycles are equal cyclists, regardless of political affiliation, race, gender, age or religion and that all students deserve respectful, polite and meaningful instruction.
