Making Pancakes
As Rose was getting dressed, she could hear Kay in the kitchen. “Oh, no, “Rose thought. “Kay must be fixing breakfast. My sister does many things well, but cooking breakfast isn’t one of them.”

When Rose got to the kitchen, Kay was making pancakes. She was also making a mess! Flour, eggs, and shells were everywhere. The fire on the stove was very high, and the pancakes were burning in the pan. Rose didn’t want to hurt Kay’s feelings, so she sat down and tried to eat. Suddenly Rose didn’t feel well. “Maybe you’re coming down with something,” Kay said. Rose nodded. She just couldn’t tell Kay that the pancakes were making her sick.
