List of Self-Organised Initiatives in India

Home Sweet Home is an exhibition series that uses lived-in, domestic spaces to exhibit artworks and collaborate with artists and curators across India and outside. Since its inception in 2015, we have organized twelve exhibitions and collaborated with more than fifty artists and curators from India and abroad.

With support from the Art South Asia Project, we have been working towards a publication platform—an online project to write about, archive, and engage critically and creatively with independent, self-organized initiatives in the arts in India since 1990. We broadly define independent initiatives as a public activity undertaken by artists outside the framework of the mainstream art market. This may include curatorial projects, exhibition series, talk series, zines, residency spaces, collectives, and publications by artists or students.

As a part of this project, we are compiling an open-source directory of such independent initiatives. This directory will be available as an excel spreadsheet on our website.
