B. Tree Autumn CSA 2019
It is autumn equinox time again. Such a powerful time of year. The  earth's light is completely in balance: equal day and equal night.  I look around for signs of balance in the world, especially when it seems so out of balance in so many ways.  I love the long journey of the moon across the sky and her slow growth from silver sliver to full belly to glowing orange round sphere and back again to nothing.  I could sit in my garden for an entire day just watching the pollinators in their busy flight from flower to flower, so focused, so at peace with their life.  I like to think about how to bring more of that peace into my life. And when things feel out of balance, what tools, support, and inspiration I can draw from. The process of growing, harvesting and blending these powerful plants has certainly been a blessing in so many ways.  I hope this CSA brings you some of that autumn equinox magic.

I invite you to choose FIVE of the following options, and please note that the Elderberry Rosehip Syrup counts as TWO choices!

Name
B. Courage
This could also be called "throat chakra tea" or "speak your truth." That's why I settled on courage, because it takes a lot to speak your truth and to be heard, to be vulnerable enough to put yourself out there and risk rejection, disagreement, or judgement.  But if we don't take those risks, then we aren't living up to our fullest potential and bringing our full, miraculous self to all that we do. So this tea blend is to help open up our throats and lungs to prepare them for great things. It is a lemony ginger flavor with throat and lung supportive herbs, great for sore throats, coughs, infections and speaking up.
lemon balm, lemongrass, lemon verbena, marshmallow leaf and flower, mullein, ginger, sage, licorice. 16oz  $13

B. Love Tea Blend
I just love this blend, and it's some of my members' all time favorite, so it's coming back this autumn. It could also be called "Heart's Ease" because it is formulated to support the heart on all levels.  The herbs in this blend help soothe emotional upset while nourishing a deep sense of self-love and compassion.  Hawthorn also supports the physical heart by strengthening the muscles, blood vessels and valves of our organ of love.  Damiana is said to be an aphrodesiac, which can promote the feeling of elated well-being that comes with falling in love.  It is also a very soothing nervine, helping move through feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, panic, and stress.
So fall in love this autumn! Nourish your heart and dive deeply into that which you love, most especially yourself.
tulsi, damiana, hawthorn, violet, rose, cinnamon. 16oz  $13

Elderberry Rosehip Immune Boost Syrup
Fresh RI elderberries and beach rosehips, ginger, and cinnamon make this a delicious, smooth immune system super charger.  Elderberries are one of the top most effective immune support herbs, used commonly in Europe as prevention and treatment of flu symptoms. My kids and I love plucking the little ripe berries off of their bright purple stems, leaving little purple "trees" behind, then boiling and mashing the berries to make syrup.  And our dear, local beach roses are making those gorgeous, juicy fruits right now that are jam packed with vitamin C and other nutrients that help our bodies fight off infection.  The extra spices make this syrup extra yummy while also adding warmth to our bodies as the chilly weather sets in.
Elderberries, rosehips, ginger, cinnamon in water and raw RI honey.  8oz  $25

Fire Cider
Another immune system support favorite, Fire Cider is a traditional recipe for warding off sickness, clearing out mucus, stimulating circulation, aiding digestion.....so much!  It is a bend of pungent, spicy, anti-bacterial herbs and roots infused in apple cider vinegar.  Put a splash in your water bottle, mix it in salad dressing, take a shot straight, mix with warm water and honey. It's the best thing when you feel a tickle in your throat or a sniffle in your nose: clears you right out!
Onion, garlic, horseradish, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, parsley, lemon in raw organic apple cider vinegar.  10oz  $17

Shine the Light tincture
The days are getting shorter, the sun is slipping lower in the sky and we begin to turn our attention to the autumn harvest and the changing season.  And for some of us, we start making plans for how to survive and hopefully thrive in the cold, dark days of winter.  So this blend is for anyone who wants to invite a little sunshine into their darker months.  St John's Wort has been getting a lot of attention as an anti-depressant and the most magical thing about it, to me, is that it has all kinds of connections to the sun.  It's leaves have tiny pin prick holes in them that literally "let the sunshine in." When you steep its golden yellow flowers in alcohol or oil, the liquid almost immediately begins to turn a deep, shining red color like the center of the sun.  It is a powerful nervine, anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory, supporting the entire nervous system.  It not only helps with serotonin uptake and lifting a dark mood, but also with nerve pain, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.  This blend is ready to bring you some sunshine.
St. john's wort plus lemonbalm, rose, and tulsi in alcohol, raw apple cider vinegar, honey and water. 1oz  $13

Dream Deep Elixir
Back with popular support and lots of cheers, this blend is one of the most requested and best reviewed remedies that I make.  It's made with gentle nervines that nourish a stressed body and mind, bringing a deep sense of inner calm and relaxed spirit.  At the end of the day, sometimes we just need the space to take some deep breaths: let our body sit and our mind float on a cloud or on a gentle rocking ocean.  And that's when we realize how tired we are or maybe that's when our inner voice can get through all the noise and give us its wisdom.  However it happens for you, this blend will certainly lead you to deeper, easier sleep and often brings out memorable, more vivid dreams.
Lemonbalm, skullcap, mugwort, chamomile, rose in brandy and raw RI honey.  1oz  $14

Digestive Bitters
The bitter element is sometimes hard to find in our cultural cuisine and many people prefer not to eat foods with a bitter flavor such as alfalfa, bitter melon, romaine lettuce, rye, radish leaf, turnip, amaranth and quinoa.  But the bitter flavor is so helpful to stimulate digestive enzymes and help alleviate many types of digestive dis-ease.  It also clears excess heat from the body and supports the heart and liver, helping with inflammation, anxiety and insomnia.
So bitter herbs are a great way to get the bitter flavor with just a few drops of tincture!
This bitters formula is tasty with the addition of some sweet and aromatic ingredients, making a well rounded and delicious pre-meal treat. Especially helpful as we enter the season of heavier, heartier, (sometimes excessive) meals!
Burdock root, dandelion leaf and root, artichoke leaf, chamomile, apple, fennel, catnip, ginger in alcohol and water. 1oz  $13

Immune Support Tonic
Another very popular remedy in this CSA (and in this country) is echinacea. And she's back!  As soon as the weather starts to change with the crisp autumn nights, our immune systems sometimes struggle.  Echinacea stimulates the body to create more white blood cells to fight infection, so it's very helpful if you're trying not to get sick or fighting something off. In addition to the root, I also harvested some leaves and flowers when the plant was in full bloom, plus some seeds, making it a more well-rounded whole plant extraction. The  holy basil and astragalus are really important at this time of year because they are adaptogens that help our body deal with stress; often this back-to-school, end of summer shift to cold weather is quite stressful! Plus, the astragalus adds its own immune support properties and synergistically enhances the effectivenes of echinacea.
echinacea, astragalus, holy basil, alcohol, water. 1oz  $13
