Phoenix AYLUS Medical Committee Medical Physics Virtual Seminar
ABOUT OUR EVENT:
Phoenix AYLUS is holding a series of free virtual sessions from medical students and professionals around the Phoenix region. Our guest speaker, who works as a Senior Medical Physicist, will be talking about what medical physics is like as well as his overall experience in his field. In addition, he will provide tips for high school students interested in public health and public health in general. In the end, the session will open up to a Q and A, where the attendees can ask questions for the guest speaker.

TIME: 9:00 pm PST - 10:00 pm PST
WHERE: Zoom

LOGISTICS:
On the morning of the session, attendees will be emailed the meeting information (Zoom link). Individuals who have not signed up for the respective session will not be able to attend the virtual event and will not receive the recording of the session.

WHAT IS PHOENIX AYLUS?:
AYLUS is a 501(c)3 student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of our communities. Since 2019, Phoenix AYLUS has held 40+ service events/projects including concerts at senior homes, lab tours, info sessions, food banks, fundraisers, marathons, etc. Recently, Phoenix AYLUS has donated 7,000 medical face masks and 2,000 KN95 face masks to local hospitals, senior centers, and fire stations.

INTRODUCING OUR SPEAKER: Dr. Matthew West has been a practicing medical physicist for nearly 20 years. He obtained a BS in physics and MS and PhD in Nuclear Engineering.  He has worked in both clinical and medical manufacturing environments as a medical physicist. He will present an overview of medical physics as a career choice as well as the Why, How, and What of being a medical physicist.
