With a combined love of music and art, and practicing artist in both, Shirley Elias will be taking participants on a journey through an exhibition that features Mussorgsky’s iconic masterpiece, Pictures at an Exhibition.

Discover a story that begins with a friendship between a composer and visual artist, which inspired the creation of this monumental piece of music, now familiar and beloved on both solo piano and orchestral stages around the world. Woven into the story will be Shirley’s own paintings, created specifically for this virtual exhibition. Start discovering the visual inspirations of your own listening skills. Discussion will also include Shirley’s perspective on being a musician (an interpreter) and painter (a creator), and how these worlds co-exist for her.
