BVC TRYOUTS 2022
"Club Volleyball" refers to club travel teams. If you are registering for this, there is a time & financial commitment involved and is competitive. We will continue to post & send out information as it becomes available prior to tryouts. Registration will remain open through tryouts. There is not an obligation to tryout if you register but we hope that you will give BVC a try! = )

PLAYERS THAT ARE STILL "IN SEASON" (meaning that the school team you are on still has matches on their schedule) MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN TRYOUTS UNTIL YOUR SEASON IS OVER. Players in the 13's or 14's age groups that are (or potentially could be) moved up to play AFTER 10's-14's tryouts have been held must wait until the *new* team's season is complete to tryout. We will cover this in depth at the Parent Info Meeting to clarify & make sure that no one violates the AHSAA rules.

IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND THE PARENT INFO MEETING, PLEASE EMAIL US AFTER THE MEETING TO GET THE HANDOUTS. We are working very hard on getting all of the info together for you so answering club questions before the meeting would be time consuming for us. We promise to answer all of your questions and if you have more after the meeting/receiving the handouts, then I'm happy to help you  = )
Meanwhile, we do have an overview of the club process/costs/practices/tournaments, etc below...

BVC BASIC OVERVIEW (in depth info will be available at the Parent Meeting prior to tryouts)
Players will practice twice a week for 1.5-2 hours each practice. Days/Times are determined at a later date, typically after teams are formed in order to get input from parents & coaches. Teams attend approximately 3-7 tournaments over the course of January-April (number of tournaments depends on the age division). Most tournaments are within Alabama or our direct neighboring states. The tournament schedule is finalized after teams are formed. We do this to allow parents to have input on their team's schedule!
Players playing "up/out of their age division" are rare. If you wish to do this, please let us know and attend the tryout for the age group you're wanting to play. You will be rated vs that age group. Players cannot play "down" an age division.

Teams are comprised of up to 12 players. Most teams have 2 coaches.
Coaches are assigned at different times during the next few months. Typically, we assign head coaches to an age division, and sometimes to a specific team. Assistant coaches are assigned when teams are finalized. This is all due to AHSAA rules (we will go over those at the Parent Info Meeting & how they affect club teams).

COACHES HAVE NOT BEEN ASSIGNED TEAMS YET. We are in the process of finalizing our staff and seeing what our needs will be for the upcoming season. We will release this info via our website & Facebook as soon as we have determined what age groups coaches will be assigned to.

TENTATIVE FEES (per player): we will have Parent Info Meetings prior to tryout that will give the specific 2022 season fees, what all is included in that fee, tentative tournament schedule, etc.
10's, 11's: $800  (Club Lite Program)
12's: $1350
13's: $1600
14's: $2500
15's-18's: $2800

*Fees for teams will be ALL INCLUSIVE for uniforms, coaching, tournament entry, equipment, gym/admin fees, etc., based on the basic tournament & practice schedule. Teams that add tournaments or choose tournaments that are more expensive (entry fee, travel fees &/or # of days) are subject to additional fees. Families are responsible for their own travel/lodging/food at tournaments
*All fees can be made in 3-4-5 equal installments (depending on age group) beginning on "commitment day"*  If your team owes additional fees, you will be asked to pay this as a 5th installment.
All of this will be covered at the Parent Info Meeting in depth.

AT TRYOUTS:
Kneepads are recommended. We suggest that players wear their hair up so it doesn't get in the way. Athletic shoes are required but they do not have to be volleyball specific. Keds/Converse/Slip ons/and similar shoes are NOT appropriate footwear. Athletic shorts/spandex & t-shirt are ideal. Do not bring your own volleyball.
Bring your own water bottle.

Practices/Tryouts are not open to spectators.

Tryout Fee:
10's-11's-12's-13's: $25 cash or check made out to BVC.  $26 if using PayPal.
14's-18's: $50 cash or check made out to BVC.  $52 if using PayPal.

*We do accept walk-ups for tryouts but all registrations, memberships & payments must be made before participation can occur. Evaluation, Tryout Fees, and USAV/SRVA memberships are non-refundable and do not apply toward your club fees.

STEPS TO TRYOUT
STEP 1: Register for tryouts! This can be done anytime prior to tryouts (that's this form you are filling out now)

STEP 2: Attend Parent Info Meeting
10's-14's age divisions: Monday September 27, 7:30pm
15's-18's age divisions: Sunday October 24, 7pm
If you cannot attend, you may email for a copy of the handout after your age group's meeting.

STEP 3: Go to www.srva.org and obtain a Junior Tryout Membership ($10) (non-refundable).
This is a fee charged by SRVA/USAV to cover athletes during tryouts for insurance purposes.
*If you make a team & become a "full" member, this $10 goes toward the full $50 SRVA Membership Fee that is required of Club players. Look around the SRVA website for more helpful documents, like how to choose a club & more! *this step is not available until after September 23.
If you haven't ever created a SportsEngine account, you create the account for the PARENT first then you're able to add children to it. If you have but you forgot your log in info, then you will need to use their Forgot Password system. BVC doesn't have any access to this system.

A: via PayPal (add $1/$2) to: TLE4@bellsouth.net, include players name and age division.
B: cash/check made out to BVC at tryouts or dropped off at BVC prior to tryouts

STEP 5: Attend both days of tryouts (dates and times below). WE STRONGLY SUGGEST ATTENDING BOTH REGULAR DAYS OF TRYOUTS IN ORDER TO GET COMPLETE EVALUATION RATINGS.

After hearing your feedback & researching conflicts, WE HAVE UPDATED OUR TRYOUT TIMES IN ORDER TO ALLOW PLAYERS TO TRYOUT FOR MULTIPLE CLUBS AND NOT OVERLAP TRYOUT TIMES (as much as possible). We greatly appreciate your support of BVC! (as of 9/23/21)

We strongly encourage attendance at BOTH days of tryouts in order to get the most thorough & accurate skill assessment.

STEP 6: Teams will be posted as soon as possible after the last tryout day for that age division.
Players are evaluated at tryouts and are placed on teams based on many different criteria including volleyball knowledge, ability within a position, school, needs/dynamics of the team, coaches discretion, and many other factors. Please know that when teams are posted, you are being offered a spot in our club. Based on accepts/declines, team make up could change but you will not lose your spot in our club if you accept. If you decline, your spot may be offered to another player. We will move players up to fill vacancies IF it is deemed appropriate by both teams.

STEP 7: Use the link sent when teams are posted to accept your spot in the club! (reminder: all 10s-13s who tryout will be placed on a team, we do not make cuts in these age groups!). We anticipate having 2-3 teams per age division. But this is based on the number of players that show up to tryouts. Having our own facility allows us to not be constrained by space/time for teams/practice.

15's-18's COMMITMENT DAY: Thursday November 4: 4-7pm

STEP 9: Practice begins around early-mid November, depending on age group. Tournaments typically start in January and end in March/April.
