Celebrate individuals and organizations that embody each of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, including Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith). We will also include the "Kwanzaa" award for an individual and an organization that embodies all seven principles. There will be a nomination period and a panel to review and determine winners. Winners will be featured in an in-person or virtual event.
ELIGIBILITY:
1. Award recipients must be located within the United States.
2. Individual award recipients must identify as Black or African-American and reside within the United States.
3. Organization award recipients must identify as Black-owned or Black-led and operate within the United States.
TIMELINE:
- Nominees to be announced by January 9, 2021.
- Awards to be announced by January 31, 2021.
