The Peel Community Food Justice Research Project team is excited to launch its #peelfoodstories campaign. We are inviting Peel community members to share your stories -- eg. a photograph, a drawing, a song or slam, a written poem -- to express your thoughts and feelings about local food issues, food insecurity and/or food justice. You can submit your story as a document, a visual image, an audio file, a digital drawing, etc.
Consider the following question when thinking about your story:
- What picture, image or story would you share with a friend about local food issues in Peel?
The goal of this research project is to amplify the voices of Peel residents, and to understand:
1/ what are the local issues with Peel's food system are: eg. not enough urban gardens / cost of healthy food;
2/ what initiatives need to be better supported: eg. community led efforts around food;
3/ what needs to change to make the food system more just: eg. specific bylaws, policies, funding, etc.
As a Peel resident, your story will become part of this research work, and will be amplified for other Peel residents to hear. Those who participate in the #peelfoodstories campaign will also be entered in a random draw to win 1 of 10 $30 gift cards. The winners will be contacted once the campaign has ended on October, 4th.
Campaign Guidelines:
- You must be a Peel resident
- All stories submitted must be original and belong to the owner/creator who is submitting
- Your submission will be shared with the Peel Food Justice Research Project team and used for research purposes to help inform the Peel Food Action Council (PFAC)
