About REST Residency
REST (A SELF ORGANISED RESIDENCY), by TENT: a School of Performative Practice(Amsterdam, NL) and Chetna Mehrotra (Mumbai, IN).

We feel that the art-structure doesn’t give space to artist to rest and reflect. While talking about the reflection, care and rest the artist community in India itself is too busy to find the survival.
Although some of the artists do find residency support from the Western corners, they are expected to move to the host countries for work and work for the benefits of the benefactors rather than the art itself. As a result all the efforts and energy of the artist is spent in complying to the agendas of benefactor and leaves no space for art exploration. We felt a need to create structure, which can support artist to maybe rest, to reflect, to evaluate or to envision their futuristic artistic practices. Thus REST, supports four Indian artists, to get support for a self organised residency in any part of India. REST will sponsor the residency expenses.

The Residency has on-board Kristýna Ilek as a s dramaturge and a conversation partner. She is a dramaturge, theatremaker and researcher, working between Europe and UK. She did her Masters in Theatre Studies from the University of Glasgow and then Masters in Dramaturgy from the University of Amsterdam.
