Greetings! Thank you for showing interest in the Office of Admissions' Student Ambassador Organization for the 2019-20 academic year. Below are the Statement of Purpose, Qualifications, Expectations, Benefits, and Calendar Dates for the Student Ambassador Organization. Before continuing to the next section, please read through these sections carefully as they may impact the responses to application questions. All of the questions are REQUIRED. Also, there is an essay portion to this application that can only be uploaded via Google Drive. Please prepare the essay in advance. Applications will be due January 26th, 2020 by 11:59 pm. Again, thank you for your interest and we cannot wait to see your submission.

Statement of Purpose:
The Student Ambassador Organization is an integral part of the Office of Admissions. The purpose of the organization is to assist in the recruitment and retention of multicultural and first-generation students and to increase diversity at the College of Charleston. Student Ambassadors assist with Admissions information sessions, provide campus tours, meet with prospective and accepted multicultural and first-generation students and families on and off campus, call prospective students, assist with on-line chat sessions, travel with admissions counselors to local high schools or college fairs, host prospective students overnight, and participate in all admission recruitment events. Above all else, the Student Ambassadors embrace the College of Charleston’s core value of diversity and strive to make the College a welcoming and diverse place.

Qualifications:
-A current College of Charleston student in good academic standing with a minimum G.P.A. of a 2.5 (cumulative) or better.  
-Must be in good standing with the College (no disciplinary sanctions, etc.).
-Be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the College of Charleston.
-Clearly understand the goals and mission of the College and the Office of Admissions as it relates to the college’s core values of diversity and the Office of Admissions initiatives relating to recruitment and retention.

Student Ambassador (SA) Expectations:
-Assist with Admissions Events (Open House, Accepted Student Weekend, Junior Preview Day, Yield Events, high school and community visits etc.)
-Host students a minimum of (2) nights during M.O.V.E., an overnight visitation program for prospective students.
-Serve as SA for a minimum of one academic year.
-Provide campus tours for special groups visiting the campus.
-Maintain a positive and professional attitude while providing a positive input that will develop the expansion of the SA Program.
-Attend all training sessions and organization meetings.
-If requested, visit your former high school to speak to students about the College of Charleston experience, deliver materials to guidance office etc.
-Participate in our community service initiatives.
-Follow expectations that are defined in the Student Ambassador Handbook.
-Maintain at least a 2.5 or greater cumulative G.P.A.
-Promote multicultural recruitment events to the College of Charleston students, faculty and staff.
-Embrace the College of Charleston’s core values of diversity.
