Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this," putting his index and middle fingers together.

Dear brothers and sisters of the MSA, the fundraising committee is excited to announce the launching of our orphan sponsorship program. Through this program, you will contribute to sponsoring an orphan in one of 20 countries:
Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Malawi, Mali, Niger, Pakistan, South Africa, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Türkiye, or Yemen with the MSA UCSD through Islamic Relief's Orphan Sponsorship Program.
Payment: It costs $100 per month to sponsor an orphan through Islamic Relief. Through your smaller individual monthly contributions in factors of 10 (e.g., $10, $20, ...$100) you can help in sponsoring an orphan. Donors, depending on the scale of their contributions, will be grouped with other donors into pools of $100. These donors will be assigned an orphan and will be collectively responsible for their sustenance.
Every month, everyone in this group will send their share to one designated person per group, who will then send this sum to a portal on Islamic Relief’s website. A tutorial on how to set this up will be sent to each group chat. Money is a big amanah to coordinate, which is why both of these transactions (grouped sponsors designated group member Islamic Relief portal) will be automated through Zelle or Venmo.
Reporting: After filling out the Google form, all sponsors who are grouped will be added to a WhatsApp group chat for that group. Through this chat, you will receive a PDF of the initial report about the child, including his or her name, picture, general status of their health and education, as well as a broad summary of where they are in their life. You will also receive similar annual reports about them. Through this program, you will be responsible for supporting them in all of these things inshallah.
Communication: Sponsors will be able to indirectly communicate with the orphan by letters, whether they are typed or handwritten and scanned. These are sent to Islamic Relief, who will then forward your letter to the orphan. You will also be able to receive communications from the orphan such as handwritten letters or drawings. DO NOT INCLUDE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION IN THESE COMMUNICATIONS BEYOND YOUR FIRST NAME. This includes any last names, phone numbers, emails, etc. This is a highly regulated process by Islamic Relief.
Waitlist: Interested sponsors who cannot yet be grouped into factors of $100 in monthly contributions will be placed on a waitlist until other interested sponsors join, who can then sponsor an orphan together.
