40 Strategy Navigation Assessment Questions
Rate the degree to which each statement, or set of statements, accurately describe your organization's current Strategic Assessment.
1. Our organization has a clear purpose by an inspiring vision and mission statement.  Communications is assured to all stakeholders. *
2. Our organization has clear set of core values with defined key behavioral expectations.  If any employee is asked what they are, there is a high degree of confidence they can articulate them. *
3. Our organization consistently models the core value key behaviors.  Behavior that contradicts core values are quickly addressed and correction action implemented. *
4. Our organization has a clearly defined 10-Year BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal).  All strategic actions are aligned to achieve that goal. *
5. Our organization has a 3 to 5 Year Goal that is clearly articulated and measurable. *
6. Our organization has a 1-Year Goal that is clearly articulated and measurable. *
7. Our organization has a clearly defined Operational Plan to support the 1-Year Goal. *
8. Our organization has a clearly defined Strategic Plan to support the 3-Year Goal. *
9. All leaders and key strategic contributors are involved in the development of the Strategic Plan. *
10. Management has reviewed all of the goals and validated there are adequate resources to achieve them. *
11. Management has reviewed all staff strategic responsibilities and validated that any one person is not directly responsible for more than 3 projects in any one time period. *
12. Cross functional groups have looked ahead to validate there are not any obstacles to slow down the progress of strategic projects. *
13. All projects resulting from our Strategic Plan started as scheduled.  Completion deadlines are clear and dependencies are understood. *
14. All of the Strategic projects have clear measurable goals. *
15. All employees of the organization have been provided the Strategic Plan, understand their role and how they impact the plan's success. *
16. The leadership team meets quarterly to check the progress on the Strategic Plan.  The results are documented and recommended changes are sent back to project leaders. *
17. Project leaders meet at least monthly to check the progress of initiatives related to the Strategic Plan.  The results are documented and forwarded to the Strategic Leadership team. *
18. Leadership validates whether new projects should be added or current projects delayed or stopped on a quarterly basis. *
19. Leadership meets at the end of the year and measures the results of the 1-Year Operating Plan. *
20. Leadership meets at the end of the year and measures the results the progress towards the 3 to 5 Year Strategic Plan. *
21. Leadership clearly communicates the progress and lessons learned on the 1 Year Operating Plan and 3-5 Year Strategic Plan to all employees of the organization. *
22. The leadership team consistently creates a new 1-Year Operating Plan to assure it is driving towards the 3-Year Strategic Plan. *
23. The leadership team rolls-forward the 3 to 5 Year Strategic Plan to assure it is driving towards the 10-Year BHAG. *
24. The leadership team annually evaluates the 10-Year BHAG, Vision, Mission and Core Values to assure that the organization is consistently driving in the right direction. *
