My goal is to keep the interview method as simple as possible so that we can focus on your voice and the story you want to share. So, here are the two things that we will need.
(1) Internet: I use a platform called Zencastr that is very simple to use. I simply send a link to you and, when you click on it, it opens in the browser and we are able to chat right away. (Note: From past experience, this works best on a computer. It doesn't seem to be mobile friendly.)
(2) Headset with speaker: You know those white headphones that people usually get if they buy an iPhone? A pair of headphones like that will work fine. There's no need to buy an expensive pair of anything. We just need to make sure that we can hear your voice clearly.
The reason why we need a headset for the interview is because the sound coming out of your computer combats your voice that is going back into the speaker. Essentially, the speaker (without a headset) is taking in the noises (my voice) from the computer AND your voice as you attempt to answer my questions. This can be particularly an issue if we find ourselves in a comfortable conversation and the computer is having trouble deciding on which voice to focus.
