Information about the program:
4-H Teen Teaching is a paid summer internship for teens ages 14-19 which fosters 21st Century Skills. The internship is only a few hours per week during the summer so teens can combine this awesome opportunity with another summer job or internship if you choose. Teens who complete the internship will learn communications, leadership, perseverance, teamwork, science, teaching skills, and meet a lot of new friends.

If selected, teens will teach a science lesson to kids in 3rd-6th grade at least once a week at the same time and place each week. The teens teach as a team of two; the teens are assigned to a place in the Portland area that regularly has kids as part of a summer learning program (i.e., libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs, summer food programs, etc.). An adult is supervising the teens as they teach and helps the teens to process and improve upon their teaching skills each week. UMaine 4-H will train the teens how to teach and the subject matter. The theme for this year is Engineering Design.
