Dana (generosity or donation) is a central aspect of the Buddhist tradition. The teachings have been offered freely, and teachers have been supported by the generous donations of those that love and appreciate these teachings. In keeping with this tradition, the IMCW Scholarship Fund assists those who might otherwise be unable to attend a retreat or event. This includes those unable to work due to illness, disability, age or single-parent child-rearing; and those whose vocation in full-time, active service work or other endeavors entail a life of voluntary simplicity or poverty, including students.

The IMCW Scholarship Fund does not discriminate because of race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation or disability. The scholarship committee will consider all applications equally. Members of the scholarship committee are prohibited from receiving financial aid during their tenure on the committee.

IMCW is committed to ensuring access to the practices and teachings to all who seek them. In the spirit of diversity, equity, and inclusion, up to 50% of the spaces on this retreat will be reserved for members of under-represented groups such as People of Color, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, households making less than $40K, and active military personnel and veterans.

To assist as many as possible, scholarships will be limited to one retreat per year per individual. The amount awarded to an individual will be limited to no more than half the cost of the retreat. However, the committee may waive the frequency criterion and/or maximum limits, depending on individual circumstances and funds available.

APPLICATION PROCESS

To be considered for a scholarship, the IMCW retreat/event manager must receive this scholarship application form at least 6 weeks before the retreat begins. Please consider applying as soon as registration opens as funds are limited.

Steps:

1. Fill out the IMCW Scholarship Fund Application form below.
2. You will be notified of the award amount via e-mail. If approved, you will be sent a discount code and instructions on how to complete payment. A deposit of ½ of your payment will be due when you are confirmed for the retreat.
3. Please wait to register until you receive a discount code.

If you cancel, the regular IMCW cancellation fee and policy applies. Late cancellations do not give retreat/event managers time to offer the space or scholarship award to someone else. Please remember that late cancellations make it difficult to fill your space.
