COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
Conduct sets a standard of behavior for the coaches of the Omaha Hockey Club. All coaches will follow the code of conduct rules and regulations of USA Hockey and OHC:

- Be a positive role model to your players. Display emotional maturity and be alert to the physical safety of players.
- Be generous with your praise when it is deserved; be consistent and honest; be fair and just; do not criticize players publicly; learn to be a more effective communicator and coach; don’t yell at players.
- Adjust to personal needs and problems of players; be a good listener; never verbally or physically abuse a player or official; give all players the opportunity to improve their skills, gain confidence and develop self-esteem; teach players the basics.
- Organize practices that are fun and challenging for your players. Familiarize yourself with the rules, techniques and strategies of hockey; encourage all your players to be team players.
Maintain an open line of communication with your players’ parents. Explain the goals and objectives of your association.
- Be concerned with the overall development of your players. Stress good health habits and clean living.
To play the game is great, to love the game is greater
SUPPORT THE OMAHA HOCKEY CLUB
Be responsible!
The coaches should publicly support the mission of OHC. Act in such a  manner as to uphold and enhance personal and professional honor, integrity and the dignity of  the organization.
Winning is a consideration, but not the only one, nor the most important one. Care more about the child than winning the game. Remember, players are involved in hockey for fun and enjoyment.
MAINTAIN CONFIDENCE
A coach will frequently receive confidential information about the Omaha Hockey Club (OHC), its players and player’s families and its volunteers. The coach is obligated to keep such  information confidential. The coach should not be discussing such information with non coaches, Travel Director and/or Board of Directors unless specifically instructed by the Board to do so. The coach should be alert to circumstances where confidentiality obligations may create a conflict. Coaches are obligated not to share any confidential or privileged information of the board whatsoever. This will include (but not limited to) emails, text messages and other forms of public media.
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
The coach will follow the USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy. Whenever the coach is present at the rink or at an OHC event, the coach is responsible for upholding the USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy. This includes, but is not limited to (outline taken from USA Hockey website Zero Tolerance Policy):

- The taunting of players, coaches, officials or other spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, threatening physical violence or physical violence.

Any time that a coach persists in any of these actions, they shall be assessed a game misconduct penalty.

Any player/coach who uses language that is hateful or discriminatory in nature anywhere in the rink before, during or after the game shall be penalized under Rule 601(e.3) resulting in a match penalty. Such behavior is reprehensible and has absolutely no place in our game. The offender shall be immediately suspended until a hearing is conducted by the governing USA Hockey Affiliate or Junior League.
LOCKER ROOM POLICY
In addition to the development of our hockey players and enjoyment of the sport of hockey, the safety and protection of our participants is central to OHC’s goals. OHC adheres to USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program as a means to help protect its participants from physical abuse, sexual abuse and other types of misconduct, including emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing. To help prevent abuse or misconduct from occurring in our locker rooms, OHC has adopted the following locker room policy. This policy is designed to maintain personal privacy as well as to reduce the risk of misconduct in locker rooms.

- Each team must develop a select group of locker room monitors that have been screened and SafeSport trained.
-Whenever players are present in the locker room, there must be at least one locker room monitor present either in the locker room or near the door in addition to coach or assistant coach or head coach and assistant coach
-Ideally, the designated locker room will only be opened once players arrive.
-If there is only one coach or locker room parent present, they should wait for multiple players to arrive and another locker room monitor or coach before allowing access to the locker room.
-Limit the time the players are in the locker room to the amount of time necessary for them to get ready for their game or practice.
-If the coach needs additional time to address the team, an additional assistant coach or locker room monitor must be in the locker room as well.
-Locker rooms must be monitored for any team event, regardless of location (not just games, and not just at home).
-No devices in the locker room this includes players, coaches, team managers, or locker room monitors.
