Athletes Against Antisemitism and Discrimination (AAAD) stands
with the people of Israel in the wake of the horrific terrorist attacks by
Hamas. The death toll from the October 7th raid against Israel
represents the deadliest assault on Jews since the Holocaust. 85 years later,
we will not be silent in the face of antisemitism and threats to human dignity
and human rights.
AAAD was founded with the mission of engaging athletes—both
at the student level and beyond—and empowering them to use their platform to
help raise awareness regarding the Holocaust, antisemitism and other forms of
identity-based hate. In the wake of the abhorrent attacks against innocent
civilians launched by Hamas, we believe that now, more than ever, it is
necessary to encourage the next generation of change agents to stand up and
speak out against these crimes against humanity.
We urge those in the athletic community to learn the facts
about the situation in Israel and use their platform to address the ways in
which Hamas is perpetrating human rights abuses towards both Israelis and
Palestinians who suffer under Hamas’ rule in Gaza. Many athletic organizations, teams and players have publicly condemned the terrorist attacks by Hamas and pledged their
support to the people of Israel. We are grateful for their leadership and their
willingness to use their platforms to fight antisemitism, violence and
injustice. We encourage other members of the athletic community to join us and
#AAADyourvoice to the conversation.
