NCOE Return To School Survey
NCOE schools would like your feedback to help us prepare for the upcoming school year. The guidelines released by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) last week for returning to in-person instruction will look much different starting in August. The health and well-being of our students, families and staff is of utmost importance. In order to return to in-person instruction these are some of the guidelines ISBE and IDPH has set forth:
-Students must use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); including face coverings
-Prohibit more than 50 individuals from gathering in one space
-Social distancing observed, as much as possible
-Temperature checks or individuals self-certify that they are free of symptoms before entering school buildings
-Increase school-wide cleaning and disinfecting
The school day times will be altered as well:
8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Students will not be able to enter buildings before 7:45 a.m.)
We believe that even with the given restrictions that in-person instruction is the most effective education. However, we also recognize that this may not be suitable for every student and a remote learning option could be available for those students. Please note that remote learning this fall would be very different than how it looked this spring. Grading will be mandatory with instruction being very similar to what is happening in the classroom with instruction, assignments, and tests.
Please keep in mind that all of this is subject to change as the situation is constantly evolving. We value your feedback as we prepare for the upcoming school year.
