GIC Presentations Interest Form
We are excited to present the 2024 Global Issues Conference on March 4th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.! This year's theme is Roots and Responses, where we will focus on the cultural, social, and political responses to the global crises in our world. Our goals for this conference will be to understand how the identities we hold impact our responses to global issues and leave feeling empowered to discuss global issues!

We are looking for presenters to create presentations about a contemporary issue, looking at the roots of the issue and the responses people have had in recent times. You will create a 3-5 minute presentation on the issue, and lead a 10 minute group discussion on analyzing responses and drawing connections of the responses to the root. We encourage you to be creative and choose issues that are close to your heart! Below are some examples of proposals:

  • Roots and Responses for land stolen from Native American tribes
  • Roots and Responses for British Colonialism in India
  • Roots and Responses for Indigenous Boarding Schools in Canada
  • Roots and Responses to the climate crisis
If you would like help developing an idea, we would love for you to email Professor Cynthia Kaufman (kaufmancynthia@fhda.edu), for help creating an idea. After you complete this form, we will contact you with information about the presentations and next steps.
