Komponist og gitarist Kim Myhr har et helt eget håndlag med gitarer og lar sin visjonære tilnærming til instrumentet utfolde seg under Borealis i 2024. I et massivt bestillingverk skal han skape en fysisk lydverden ved hjelp av hele 50 tolvstrengsgitarer, og vil engasjere alle rustne gitarhelter, ivrige videregående elever og entusiastiske leirbålmusikanter i Bergen og omegn.
Det er helt uforpliktende å fylle ut skjemaet.

Noe praktisk informasjon:
-Verket skal spilles under Borealis åpningskonsert 13. mars. Det blir prøver ettermiddag/kveld 12. mars og ettermiddag/kveld på selve dagen.
-Du trenger ikke kunne noter. Den viktigste teknikken vil være strumming og noe av materialet vil være klart til nyåret så det er god tid til å sette seg inn i det som skal spilles. Vi spiller uten noter og det vil være fem grupper/stemmer som følger hver sin gruppeleder.
-Konserten finner sted i foajéen til Åsane Kulturhus, et stort og mektig rom med spennende akustikk og ulike platåer som vil bli lyssatt av lysdesigner Martin Myrvoll. Både musikere og publikum vil bevege seg i rommet.
-Verket er akustisk, altså ingen forsterkere, kun gitarer!

Some practical info:
-The commission will be performed as part of the opening of Borealis on march 13th. There will be rehearsals in the evening of the 12th and before the concert on the 13th.
-You don't have to read notated music. The most important technique to know is strumming and some of the material will be ready in the new year so you'll have plenty of time to learn the music. We will play without sheet music in five groups who all have a group leader to follow.
-The concert is placed in the foyer of Åsane Kulturhus, a big room with exciting acoustic and different plateaus. The rom will be lit by light designer Martin Myrvoll. Both musicians and the audience will move in the space.
-The commission is acoustic, so no amps, just the sound of the guitars.

Kim Myhr har turnert internasjonalt siden tidlig på 2000-tallet og har i noen år vært blant Norges mest produktive og nyskapende musikere og komponister. Musikken hans tar utgangspunkt i en orkestral utforskning av gitaren. Albumet hans You | me ble nominert til Nordic Music Prize, og fikk stor anerkjennelse internasjonalt. Som komponist har han laget større verker for Australian Art Orchestra, den kanadiske strykekvartetten Quatuor Bozzini, Kitchen Orchestra og Trondheim Jazz Orchestra fra Norge. Han har samarbeidet med Jenny Hval påsamarbeidsalbumet In The End His Voice Will Be The Sound Of Paper, Tony Buck fra The Necks, Lasse Marhaug, Christian Wallumrød, poeten Caroline Bergvall og mange andre. De siste femten årene har Kim turnert over hele Europa, Amerika, Asia og Australia. Utgivelsen Vesper med Australian Art Orchestra ble nominert til Spellemannprisen i 2020 i kategorien samtid.
Kim Myhr has toured internationally since the early 2000s and has for some years been among Norway's most productive and innovative musicians and composers. His music is based on an orchestral exploration of the guitar. His album You | me was nominated for the Nordic Music Prize, and received great recognition internationally. As a composer, he has created major works for the Australian Art Orchestra, the Canadian string quartet Quatuor Bozzini, the Kitchen Orchestra and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra from Norway. He has collaborated with Jenny Hval on the collaborative album In The End His Voice Will Be The Sound Of Paper, Tony Buck from The Necks, Lasse Marhaug, Christian Wallumrød, the poet Caroline Bergvall and many others. For the past fifteen years, Kim has toured all over Europe, America, Asia and Australia. The release Vesper with the Australian Art Orchestra was nominated for the Norwegian Grammys in 2020 in the contemporary music category.
