S.A.R.A.H. (Sexual Assault and Rape Anonymous Helpline) is recruiting new peer counselors for the upcoming year. Please nominate students whom you feel are committed to improving the WashU community and would be dedicated to S.A.R.A.H.'s mission. The skills and qualities that we're looking for in our applicants include (but are not limited to):
- Openness to learning, growth, and self-improvement; ability to respond receptively to feedback
- Passion, commitment, willingness to put in effort
- Empathy
- Potential to learn counseling skills
- Self-awareness
- Willingness to learn about intersectionality, anti-racism, and anti-oppression and how these are important to S.A.R.A.H.'s work
- Ability to support fellow members of a team
- Ability to keep membership confidential
We welcome you to nominate any undergraduate or graduate student except students in their final year at WashU. For example, seniors are not eligible unless they will be enrolled in a graduate program or associated with the university in some way in the upcoming year. Applicants must also be available during the upcoming spring semester for the 100-hour new member training.
