The 7th Committee on Environment and Development at ministerial level was called for by the declaration adopted at the Seventh Session of the Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP/74/10/Add.1). 

The Committee will be organized on the theme of “Protecting our Planet through Regional Cooperation and Solidarity in Asia and the Pacific” from 29 November – 1 December 2022, in Bangkok and in hybrid format. It aims to draw attention to the need for stronger regional cooperation and solidarity and coordinated actions to address the challenges our common environment is facing.

It will focus on the following specific thematic areas: raising climate ambition, combatting air pollution, strengthening sustainable management of the oceans and marine ecosystems, enhancing rights-based approaches to environment, scaling up local and subnational actions on sustainable urban development, supporting transitions to development models that put nature at the center of economic development and promoting integrated environmental action.

A range of opportunities for showcasing and promoting partnerships and relevant initiatives to the theme of the Committee are offered, including an exhibition.

The exhibition (booths and tables) will provide opportunities for stakeholders to present their work and interact with participants throughout CED7.
