PVCSD Federal Stimulus Funds
Please share you ideas on how you believe the district should prioritize its use of the federal stimulus funds over the next three years.
How should the funds be used to support salaries over the next three years? (The district anticipates salaries to support the expansion of our work with ENL students and families, additional support for our classified students, curricular planning time, professional development, after school programming to address learning loss, and summer recovery and enrichment programs.  Support staff salaries will cover the increased demands on our custodial, technology, and clerical staff.  These services include the need for enhanced cleaning, technology availability, and contact tracing.  The district plan includes additional monitors and/or additional Teaching Assistants in each building to help support instructional needs. An additional school nurse has been hired to support increased demands. (This category includes the employer portion of employment tax, the cost of health benefits and the pension associated with a salary.)
How should the funds be used for purchased services over the next three years?  (Purchased services include professional development opportunities, health and safety assessments, environmental testing services, hiring of outside consultants, BOCES courses and training, and curriculum development.)
How should the funds be used to support capital projects/remodeling over the next three years? (Funds allow the district to seek reimbursement for a variety of remodeling projects. Some of the projects the district is considering include: new outdoor learning centers at Putnam Valley Elementary School and Putnam Valley High School, remodeling of the modular classroom building behind the Elementary School, upgrades to water filtration and HVAC systems, and interior building upgrades at Putnam Valley Middle School.)
How should the funds be used to support our supplies and equipment needs over the next three years? (Any purchase of equipment, furniture, books, technology equipment, or computer programs under $5,000 would be covered under this category.  Our plan proposes the creation of new outdoor learning spaces that will necessitate the purchase of furniture.  Equipment to support the health and safety of our buildings, technology to support student learners, and new instructional materials would all be considered supplies and materials.)
How should the funds be used to support equipment purchases over the next three years?                          (Any equipment or furniture that costs more than $5,000 would be covered in this category.  These expenses may include the equipment necessary to upgrade our air circulation and filtration systems, heating and cooling equipment, water and air quality equipment, and other furniture or equipment that is not covered within the supplies and materials category.)
