CHF Texas Congenital Heart Walk Committee Member Expectations

The Children’s Heart Foundation is powered by the relationship between volunteers and staff across the organization. Congenital Heart Walks each have a Staff Partner to support your committee to create a successful event. They advise on structure and policies, provide materials, assist in planning and goal setting, and serve as a sounding board.

A strong committee of volunteers from our community is essential to a successful Congenital Heart Walk event. The growth of the event is proportionate to the depth of the committee. A committee that represents our community is diverse and inclusive.

Every role on the committee is important to the success of the event, and one person cannot do it alone. The more people on the committee the greater the reach to involve more people.

The committee is led by an Event Chair or Co-Chairs, they serve as project managers to keep the committee on track and ensure the pace of tasks is managed. Each core area of the event has a Committee Chair and can have a sub-committee.

Committee Chairs makes plans for the areas of the event they oversee, manage and delegate tasks as  appropriate and report both progress and obstacles to the full committee.

Meetings

Committee meetings are facilitated by the Event Chair and all committee members attend.

A brief update from each sub-committee on progress and any areas of concern is shared.  To be efficient, reports can be submitted in advance and provided electronically to the Event Chair to allow meetings to focus on strategy and discussion.

Monthly meetings are typically scheduled out until about two months before the event and then more  frequent meetings are setup closer to the walk day.

▪ Meetings are scheduled in advanced and published on a shared calendar. Most meetings are in a virtual format, using a web-based video conference provider to create a flexible approach to connecting.

We are always looking for eager volunteers to be a part of our Texas team and ask you to forward this application to any interested recruits for future use!
