Adolescent Success invites all those committed to the education, growth and development of young adolescents to this middle years’ teaching and learning conference which will be held at Southern Cross Catholic College, Annandale, Qld on 1 June 2024. Middle Years spans ages 10 – 15 which includes upper primary and lower secondary school students.

We invite you to submit your abstract to present at this event.

There are 6 streams for which you can submit:

1. Spotlight on Pedagogy: This stream is for educators to share their junior secondary/middle years pedagogies, practices and approaches to learning.

2. Spotlight on Students: This stream is for sharing successful junior secondary/middle years student programs/innovations. These programs could be outside programs which your school has adopted and adapted or could be a program which your school has designed to meet the needs of young adolescents.

3. Spotlight on Teachers: This stream is to celebrate your junior secondary/middle years teachers, their wellbeing and their dedication to the profession of teaching.

4. Spotlight on Curriculum: This stream is to celebrate your junior secondary/middle years curriculum, planning and/or assessment. Innovative ideas on approaches to the curriculum and assessment, planning, systems and structures including staffing and teaming are ideas for this stream.

5. Spotlight on Community: This stream is to highlight the work schools are doing to engage their middle years learners with and in the community.

6. Spotlight on research: This stream is for anyone who is either a researcher or academic with current research in the middle years or for any post graduate students with research to share.

Word limit is 200 words.

Presentation sessions are 45 mins long.

Each submission is peer reviewed by at least 3 educators who use the following criteria to assess your papers suitability for the conference:
1) Relevance to the education of 10-15 year olds
2) Engagement for the audience (middle years educators)
3) Links to practical application or research

All accepted authors are required to register for the conference at the special speakers rate of $300.

13 February, 2024 - abstracts open
31 March, 2024- abstracts close
8 April, 2024- speakers notified
19 April, 2024 - speakers accept invitation
30 April, 2024 - speaker registration required
1 June, 2024 - speakers present at conference
