[BACKGROUND]
Following on from the success of the previous Summits of Young Elected Local and Regional Leaders (#YELL) that took place in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, Renew Europe CoR group have yet again teamed up with European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) and Young Democrats for Europe (YDE) to organise a fifth in 2022.
This time the event will take place at the European Summit of regions and cities in Marseille 3-4 March. The European Summit of regions and cities is a gathering of local representatives organised every two years by the European Committee of the Regions to discuss the EU's future challenges. With the support of the French hosts and co-organisers, youth representatives, and a wide participation enabled by the hybrid format, the 9th European Summit of Regions and Cities invites citizens and their elected representatives to help design a more resilient, cohesive and democratic European Union.
The European Summit of regions and cities will be held both on-site at Marseille Chanot and remotely on the digital event platform. We aim to bring #YELL participants for a physical participation, however physical presence will depend on the COVID-19 measures in place and an all-digital event cannot be ruled out at this stage.
[WHO CAN APPLY]
Young (18-35) local and regional politicians with an elected mandate and having a responsibility either in government or in opposition are encouraged to apply.
The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for young liberal democrat local and regional elected leaders to meet and share ideas and best practice amongst themselves. As well as, to take part in the wider programme of the European Summit of regions and cities.
[PROGRAMME]
