2021-2022 Greater Seattle ARK Council Application

Thank you for your interest in being on the 2021-2022 Council.

In 2015 co-coordinators Hannah Pham and Sabrina Nguyen started the first Council in Northern California. Later, ARK continued to grow under the leadership of coordinators Kimmie Tran and Alex K. Ngo. As Aadi Annamalai and Victoria Tran followed their lead, ARK developed and grew to greater heights, inspiring more people with the magic of kindness. Coordinators Sally Nguyen and Lily Li spread their passion and love for kindness throughout the ARK community, further expanding ARK's ever-growing presence. Then, Darlene Mac and Savanna Vu showed the power of kindness through the significance of small actions, because it's the little things that count. Last year, Amy Do & Kristina Nguyen left it to co-coordinators Marina Blatt and Ayla Karmali, alongside their team Catie Liu, Arthi Venkatesh, Athena Situ, and Meghan Huang, to start up the first branch of ARK in Greater Seattle. Now, with the 2020-2021 term coming to an end, we are excited to witness the future of Greater Seattle ARK with yet another passionate and talented team. Will it be you?

As PRESIDENT, you will be held responsible for registering and leading our school clubs. You will plan an outline agenda for each meeting prior to meeting with your council. In addition, you will guide the Council Team and delegate tasks in order to lead clubs, events, and projects. You are also in charge of all outreach with other organizations, clubs, or businesses. Coordinators have a large amount of responsibility so you will also be working with another fellow Coordinator throughout the year.

As TREASURER, you are in charge of handling all aspects of finance such as merchandise transactions, refunds, and record keeping. In addition, you will be responsible for creating and/or managing a dedicated Venmo account for Greater Seattle ARK. However, being treasurer is not just about managing money. You'll also serve as a point of contact for ARK, reaching out to a variety of people from local businesses to city council members to representatives from each our respective ARK clubs.

As SECRETARY, you are responsible fore taking notes and documenting "meeting minutes" during Council meetings and Inter-School ARK meetings. In addition, you will create slides for monthly inter-school ARK meetings, forms, and any other written materials. If needed, you will be in charge of updating a shared checklist of to-do items with Council members. These tasks demand that you maintain organization, as well as efficiency and consistency.

As VISUAL MEDIA CHAIR, you will work with your fellow members of the Media Team to cover all aspects of media and advertising. You are in charge of managing the Instagram account and creating content, as well as using other media platforms such as TikTok and Linktree. Specifically, this constitutes creating Instagram posts, reels, TikToks,  and digital flyers.

As DIGITAL MEDIA CHAIR, you will be working closely with the visual media chair to manage all social media accounts on a daily basis. Not only will you be working closely with the visual media chair, but you will need to keep in close contact with the rest of the council members in the planning of projects, executing of projects, and making sure they have the right information they’re putting out. A digital media chair should have a creative mind and know how to film and take pictures in an appealing/ engaging way. At all events, they are expected to have their cameras out to take pictures and videos to post at a later time. However, when film is not needed, it is expected that they help out the visual media chair in the making of flyers and posters. Overall, the digital media chair should have strong design skills and be proficient in using major social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube.

As EDITOR you must be able to work with the rest of the Council, especially the other media chairs, to keep clubs updated through the website and emails. The editor is expected to know (or learn) how to use Webnode fluently to keep the website as up to date as possible. Thus an editor should have strong design and technology skills. This role will also require a significant amount of writing (blog posts on the Website and emails to ARK clubs) so the editor should have strong and professional writing skills. Overall, this role is good for someone who enjoys writing and website design.

*If you apply to be a part of the Media Team (Digital Media Chair, Visual Media Chair, Editor), please submit a portfolio with pictures, videos, digital flyers, newsletter, or anything drawn by hand to us at greaterseattleark@gmail.com*

As part of the ARK Council, there will be a lot of work ahead of you, but it will be more than worth it. The sea of endless smiles, the look of pure joy of people's faces, the passionate and caring people you will constantly be surrounded by, and the opportunities to learn and grow will all be worth it as you connect with all the ARK clubs. Some responsibilities of being a part of the Greater Seattle ARK Council include  responding to emails, aiding new ARK Clubs, contacting ARK club officers, hosting major events such as inter-school ARK meetings, increasing ARK outreach, and hosting events such as Holiday Care pARKages, Regional Kindness Outreach (RKO), EmbARK to the Park. Being an ARK Council member is a unique experience in which you will learn to be a stronger leader and valuable team member, create a second family, spread joy in surrounding schools and communities, and gain irreplaceable memories.

Thank you for applying to become an ARK Council member. We know that you will be remARKable! If you have any questions about any of the positions feel free to message the current team.
