Christmas Bird Count Phoenix Metro Circle - Participant Interest Form
Each November, birders interested in participating in the CBC can sign up and join in through the Audubon website. From December 14 through January 5 each year tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the  Americas brave snow, wind, or rain, and take part in the effort. Audubon and other organizations use data collected in this long-running  wildlife census to assess the health of bird populations, and to help guide conservation action.

2024 will be our 5th year participating in the CBC. The Rowyn Balman Phoenix Metro CBC is being sponsored by Nerdy for Birdies, Desert Rivers Audubon, Educating Children Outdoors, and Maricopa County Master Naturalists. The count will take place on Sunday December 15th.

By completing this form you are agreeing to participate in the CBC and having your contact info added to the Audubon compiler system. Your information will only be used to contact you about this CBC and future CBCs.

Did you attend a training in 2020-2023? If you did, you do not need to attend another unless you need a refresher. Training dates will start in November. *
What area (aka sector) would you like to cover? Please visit this map to view sectors https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1__KtgDK4-zxUCVqjesBx5jwPYS7fQNXn&usp=sharing We are allowing backyard birding if you are unable to cover a sector. *
Are you interested in being a sector leader? This means inexperienced birders will join you on your route. We will keep groups small, between 4-6 people. You must be an experienced birder to be a leader. Leaders will be in charge of ensuring participants in their sector are covering, idying birds, and counting correctly. And they will be responsible for completing and submitting their sector form to the compiler within one week after the count date.
*
Are you able to cover your sector during all daylight hours? If you answered no please let us know what times you can cover it so we can make sure someone else gets it covered during the other times. Owling is an option as well if someone is interested in going out at nighttime. And backyard birding is an option too.
