Common Good City Farm Board of Directors Interest Form
Common Good City Farm is a 501c3 nonprofit urban farm with a mission to create a vibrant, informed, and well-nourished community through urban farming. We are actively seeking new members for our Board of Directors (BOD) and would love to hear from you if you are interested.

Once received the Governance and Nominations Committee will review your responses. They will follow up with a Zoom call invitation according to the availability noted on your submission. You'll have a chance to discuss the role further and we'll have the opportunity to learn more about your interest.

This form does not save any drafts so we encourage you to write out long-form responses in a separate document to avoid work getting lost due to internet connection or other issues when submitting the form.

Profile, Skills, and Interest Questions

Board Recruitment Profiles: We are recruiting for community leaders with experience and skills in the following areas. As of summer 2022, we have a particular need for a candidate with financial expertise (Profile 1).

Profile 1: Financial Expert
- Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Certified Public Accountant, Business Owner, or Executive Director experience
- Holds expertise in administrative and operational management and able to share best practices on organizational systems and processes
- An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements, experience with internal accounting controls, financial oversight, and an understanding finance and audit committees

Profile 2: Community Member / Food Justice Champion
- Lived experience and/or practice of urban agriculture, food policy, food security, and food assistance
- Additionally, we invite those who hold an understanding of the Washington DC food landscape and ways to leverage local resources or coalitions
- Track record as a community member in service of social and/or racial justice within DC; former program participants, active members of the community and/or local civic associations will also be considered

Profile 3: Fundraising / Developments / Communications Leader
- Fundraising, development, and/or those with fundraising events experience such as experience with overseeing events and people that support efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit individual, foundation, and corporate prospects and able to support thanking process
- Experience with developing strategic communications with an understanding of how to leverage brand strategy to drive an organization’s visibility and impact
- Ability to organize different fundraising communication efforts especially among the board to develop the skills of all peers towards collective goals and a background or interest in emerging community centric practices are welcome

Availability and Next Steps
The next step is a Zoom call, where you'll have a chance to learn more about us and the role. We'll also be able to learn more about you and your interest. Kindly indicate what times you are normally available to schedule a call - example: Saturday mornings, weekday evenings after 6pm, etc. *
If you join the Board, there's a commitment to provide at least 5-10 hours a month in attendance to BOD meetings, committee meetings/work, and that you do not have any conflict-of-interest in participating on the Board. If there are any potential conflicts, please select Other and explain. e.g. business partner, family relationship, etc. *
If you are not elected as a member of the BOD, or if you decide not to join, would you like to be a volunteer to assist our organization in various ways that match your skills and interests? *
