Carson City Symphony Association’s “Strings in the Summer” is a program for string-instrument players of all ages and experience levels. Sessions will be on four Fridays from July 14 to August 4 (7/14,
7/21, 7/28, 8/4) at St. Paul's Lutheran Family Church, 1201 N. Saliman Road, just north of Carson High School. Registration and tuition are free, donations welcome.
In the first session, "Adventures in Rhythm," from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., players will alternate playing their string instruments and various percussion instruments. In the second session, "Alternative Styles," from noon to 1:30 p.m., players will focus on fiddle, jazz, and improvisation. Symphony Youth Strings instructor Suzanne McGarraugh will lead both sessions.
