Junior Leader Application for the 2023 National Camp
This form is to apply as a Junior Leader for the 2023 National Camp, a Canada-wide CISV camp that is being held Aug 12-19, 2023 just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The camp will be held at the Landmark East School in Wolfville which is an hour's drive from Halifax. Drives will be given from the airport to camp.

The 2022 National Camp is a multi-age week-long program for up to 50+ youth aged 11 - 17 from across Canada. It is being organized by the CISV Canada Junior Branch in collaboration with CISV Halifax.

Like all CISV programs, the National Camp will be a dynamic, fun learning experience focused on peace education and leadership development. Participants are encouraged to take an active leadership role within the camp. After the first day run by the staff, participants will work together to plan and run camp activities.

Trained adult staff will facilitate the planning groups and ensure that everyone has a great experience. Every day will include active time outdoors on the beautiful camp property.

Activities at camp will be planned around CISV’s four content areas: human rights, sustainable development, conflict resolution, and diversity. Camp participants plan and run the activities throughout the week. They are challenged to explore new topics and themes through running activities, simulations, and anything in between. The National Camp experience is what you make of it; come with an open mind and be prepared to discuss new ideas.

JUNIOR LEADER POSITION
The 2020 National Camp Review brought forward the idea of Junior Leader that I am eager to implement at this year’s National Camp. Since National Camp has not been held since 2019, most Junior Boards probably don’t have a Local National Camp Coordinator (LNCC) anymore. Instead of the LNCC position it will be replaced by the Junior Leader. The goal is for each chapter to have a Junior Leader that will act as a liaison for their chapter and take on a leadership position at camp.  Junior Leaders will take on a greater responsibility in planning and running camp and act as a role model for younger participants. Applicants will have to be 16 - 17 at the start date of camp. Junior staff will have no camp fees but will still have to paid for travel fair.

Junior Leader Applications will be due by March 31st.

CISV MEMBERSHIP
All participants at National Camp will have to be members of a CISV Canada Chapter in good standing. Membership is inexpensive and is required to cover the insurance for local and international CISV activities. Membership fees vary by Chapter and some Chapters offer complimentary trial memberships for youth attending their first activity. For a list of Chapters and contact information please visit  https://cisvcanada.org/about-us/cisv-in-canada/.

APPLICATION REVIEW AND REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
After submitting your application you will receive an automatic email with a summary of your responses to the questions and instructions for next steps.

There is will be a limit of one Junior Leader that can come from each Chapter; however, if there are spots not filled by certain chapters, those spots will be opened up to all chapters.
