RETURNS:
1) The student is responsible for the safe return of the loaned technology and accessories to Merced College at a designated time and place. Merced College will contact the student with the designated return location, date, and time.
2) The student is responsible for checking their school email for notification of the return and/or renewal procedures. Also, the student is responsible for returning any loaned items according to that procedure.
3) The student will receive an email receipt of proof of return.
4) All user files must be removed from the laptop before it is returned. The student is responsible for saving work elsewhere before returning the laptop. Upon return, all laptops will be updated and all data will be permanently removed. Personal data will not be recoverable after the laptop is returned.
5) Any student who fails to return any loaned technology or accessory will be charged a replacement cost for the item(s): -The replacement cost for a laptop is approximately $1,100. Any student who returns a damaged item will be charged a replacement fee. Replacement costs/fines for damaged items or accessories will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and ITS personnel will be consulted to determine costs.
6) If a student keeps an item past the due date, the students will be charged a late fee of $10.00 per day. Late fees will not accrue during any time that a renewal is being processed or during the time frame designated for returns by the college.
7) Please note, unpaid fines or fees can result in a hold being placed on your student account which will prohibit you from registering for classes or obtaining a transcript.
8) Abuse of any of these policies (i.e.: returning equipment very late) may result in loss of the privilege to check out items from Merced College.
