EXPAND Mentor Application

After you apply, we will schedule and interview with you and discuss the rough plan for your project. You will ultimately submit a proposal for a self-contained 10-week project for two undergraduate students focused on developing their professional skills as a scientist. The project must satisfy the following criteria:

  • No prerequisites (allot time for teaching them the essentials)

  • Develops at least one technical skill used in industry and academia with a clear deliverable at the end of the quarter (e.g. image processing, machine learning, Python fluency, digital signal processing, data analysis, etc.)

  • Completable in 10 weeks with clear learning objectives for the undergraduate mentees

    • Learning objectives will likely be tied into the deliverables of the project

    • Should not expect more than a 10-hour-per-week time commitment from mentee

  • Approved by your PI
