Key Dates & Availability
As a board member, you are committing to a two-year term, from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026.

As the vice president, you are committing to three years, from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027 to serve in consecutive one-year terms as vice president, president, and past president.

For onboarding and offboarding, you can expect meetings prior to or after the official term dates.

During your term, you will be invited to meetings and events as part of the board and chapter calendar. Board meetings are held once a month from September - May (with the exception of December) and the Annual General Meeting is held in June. Special orientation/strategic sessions will occur over the summer period, with strategic planning and budgeting sessions planned each spring.

Executives have additional commitments, with a monthly meeting scheduled prior to the full board meeting. As well, the vice president serves on the Canada West Region board as a delegate from our BC chapter, and those meetings occur monthly from September to June.

While serving on the IABC/BC board, you are an ambassador for our chapter. There is an expectation that you will attend chapter events during your time on the board.

More details about all dates and events will be shared upon appointment to the board. If you have any questions about key dates, or the time commitment involved, please email vicepresident@iabc.bc.ca
Based on the expectations noted above, are you able to commit to a two-year term as a director? *
Board Role Preferences
The IABC/BC board includes about 17 members. Most are directors who are responsible for delivering portfolio-specific programming to our chapter members. As well, we have executive roles such as the president, vice president, past president, director of finance and the executive administrator.

In order to serve as president of the chapter, the typical route is to serve first as vice president, and when elected as vice president, the expectation is for a three-year commitment to automatically continue as president and past president.

For all other board positions, we are looking for a two-year commitment.

While the available positions may vary from year to year, this form will feature all possible roles. This way, we are able to best match you up with opportunities.
