TITLE: Empowering Arts Educators: Building Arts Endorsement Competencies for Classroom Success - Advanced Studio Work (Ceramics II/Sculpture II) & 3D Design
DESCRIPTION: Delve into the fundamental understanding of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design crucial for creating three-dimensional compositions through ceramics and sculpture techniques. This course encompasses a wide array of materials and media, empowering students to apply critical, creative, and reflective thinking, both as a dynamic process and as a means of artistic expression. These 3-D design competencies will be harnessed to develop advanced visual art skills and proficiency in ceramics and sculpture. This course requires a pre-requisite of Ceramics 1 (coursework or passed endorsement competency).
DATES: June 3-July 31, 2024
- Week 1: Async (June 3-9) - no live sessions
- Week 2: In-Person Intensive (June 10-14) at Utah Valley University
- Week 3-8/8.5: Async (June 15-July 31) - no live sessions
DETAILS- Endorsement: Meets the below USBE Visual Art Endorsement Competencies with C or above:
- Advanced Studio Work competency for the elementary visual art endorsement
- 1/3 of the Advanced Studio Work competency for the secondary visual & K-12 art endorsements
- 2D and/or 3D Design Course competency for elementary, secondary, & K-12 visual art endorsements
- Creative Process competency for elementary, secondary, & K-12 visual art endorsements - Tracts: Ceramics II or Sculpture II
- Who: Open to Elementary & Secondary Educators
- Credit: Continuing Education Credit
- Cost: Scholarship available for travel and registration fees. Registration fees TBA
