Thank you for expressing interest in the World of Waste Experience for schools of Te Awakairangi.

This experience aims to share the story of Waste in Te Awakairangi and to foster a generation of young people who think innovatively and creatively about reducing waste.

We are able to offer versions of this experience in both Covid-19 Alert Levels 1 and 2.

The Alert Level 1 experience includes:

a short pre-tour activity, a facilitated bus tour for up to thirty Year 5-8 students of the Silverstream Landfill, Earthlink and The Dowse and the opportunity for follow up facilitation support to build on learning and reduce waste at school.

At Alert Level 2 we can either run a more limited tour (excluding Earthlink) OR come in and run some in-school activities.

For health and safety reasons we can only take 30 students per tour. This tour is suitable for Years 5-8,. Each school can book a maximum of two tours.

The Dowse education team have prepared three different activities to run with our World of Waste school groups.

Each tour will only participate in one of these activities. Please select which activity you would prefer to do with your class

Create art using mātauranga Māori - eg. painting with natural materials

Create art by repurposing materials in creative ways - eg. make a viewfinder

take action by sharing our ideas about waste visually - eg. by making zines
