MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
HONORARY MEMBER: A Full Member who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession over a period of time may be elected as an Honorary Member by an Annual General Meeting. A proposal for the election of a person as an Honorary Member shall be submitted to the Council (General Secretary) not less than one month prior to the Annual General Meeting.
FULL MEMBER: A relevant tertiary qualification and at least 3 years of professional work experience in a forensic discipline. Full members have full voting rights, may serve on Society Council and are subject to the Society’s Code of Conduct.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER: Recent graduates of a forensic science degree program OR graduates of a forensic degree program with less than 3 years of professional experience OR those with more than 5 years professional experience in a forensic discipline. Associate members have full voting rights, may serve on Society Council and are subject to the Society’s Code of Conduct.
AFFILIATE MEMBER: Less than 5 years of experience in a forensic discipline OR those embarking on a forensic career or individuals with an active interest in a field of forensic science; OR
An individual who is, or becomes, a member of an affiliated association, under the rules of that association, provided that they satisfy the criteria stated above OR
Persons elected or appointed to act in a specified capacity of the Society. Affiliate members have full voting rights, may serve on Society Council and are subject to the Society’s Code of Conduct.
STUDENT MEMBER: Currently studying an undergraduate program in forensic science or closely related subjects. Student members have no voting rights and are not eligible to serve on Society Council.
